When it comes to tea time, the details of the presentation can be as important as what’s in the pot. Luckily, it’s not hard to find stunning tea cups, trays, and other essential accessories. Today, we’ve gathered together some of our favorite tea towels — perfect companions to your tea table or for general use in the kitchen.

Tea drinking and cultivation is inherently international. Grown in tropical locales, enjoyed all over the world, and celebrated in many forms — tea is an important part of many human cultures. So, if you’re planning a trip this summer, why not consider making tea a part of your travels.
Here are some suggestions for tea themed destinations from every corner of the Earth:

Heritance Tea Factory, located in Sri Lanka’s scenic hill country, is a former factory that has been converted into a luxury hotel. Guests are greeted with a hot cup of tea and can tour the grounds, even harvesting their own tea! Learn more and book a room here.

Meitan County in China is home to some very famous green tea, and now also boasts this impressive museum. The giant tea pot shaped building and accompanying tea cup is full of lots of tea culture. This architectural feat is definitely worth a visit.

The Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park is a 4-acre refuge in the middle of the city. It is the oldest public garden of it’s kind in the United States, and visitors can stroll through the gorgeous grounds before enjoy a cup of tea at the Tea House.
Let us know where you’re planning to travel this year on Facebook and Twitter.

Books and tea go together so naturally. There’s nothing like relaxing at the end of a long day with a good story and hot cup in hand, and it’s no wonder that we adore all things dedicated to the love of each.
We recently stumbled upon the British Library’s Pinterest board dedicated to libraries that appear in films. While tea cups are notably absent from these scenes, they are beautiful reminders of the importance of books and places in which we enjoy them.
Here are a few of our favorite scenes, and you can head over to Pinterest to see the rest.

The classic “I love you” scene from Breakfast at Tiffany’s takes place in a library. Fitting since the film is, after all, based on a book.

Almost all of The Breakfast Club takes place in a library, and while these unlucky students are being punished, we like to think the presence of so many wonderful books was somewhat comforting. And of course, who can forget all the dancing?

Quite easily one of the most beautiful libraries brought to life in film, this magnificent scene from Beauty and the Beast is also the beginning of a great love story. Books and romance: a combination topped only by books and tea.
Do you have a favorite literary moment from film? Share it with us on Facebook or Twitter!

Yesterday, we asked you what percentage of your daily calcium requirement could be found in a cup of tea. We got so many different responses back, that we knew we needed to do some investigating!
First, it’s important to note that the caffeine in black and green teas actually inhibits calcium intake. Drinking 1-2 cups per day does not have a significant effect, so for the most part, it’s nothing to worry about.
In herbal teas, it is often the case that some ingredients contain calcium. We use some of these ingredients in several of our blends.

Teas that contain rosehip or raspberry will have traces of calcium because of the levels that naturally occur in the fruits. Lemon is also a source of calcium, and adds a nice twist to any cup –along with some Vitamin C.

Cinnamon contains a fair amount calcium, as do roobios teas, making our Roobios & Cinnamon blend a great option. Green teas combined with fruit flavours can also contain some calcium.

Ultimately however, the amount of calcium is dependent on the amounts of that mineral in the tea blend, and those amounts tend to be quite minimal. So if you’re looking for a calcium boost, adding a bit of milk to your cup of tea or adding a squeeze of lemon are the most reliable ways to supplement your other calcium sources.
Here’s more information on those sources and everything you need to know about calcium:

Everyone loves Downton Abbey, but did you know that you could also love all the food from the show? Culinary historian Pamela Foster is great Downton fan, and she has dedicated a blog to discovering the foods and flavours of the show.
The blog features recipes, party ideas, and historical anecdotes about the foods from that period. Here are some of our favourites from Ms. Foster’s many wonderful offerings:

These English Macarons, which would go nicely with a fruit black teas like Peach & Passion Fruit.

This lovely Strawberry Charlotte Russe would be a great pairing for a dark, steamy cup of Earl Gray.

These tea tarts, which would really go well with any blend but might be nicest to match with a spicy tea like Cardamon or a classic like English Tea No. 1.
Try these recipes and travel through time to Downton Abbey, or stay in the present and watch the show with a cup of tea and a treat in hand. And, check in with Downton Abbey Cooks every Tuesday for new recipes!
